MeisterTask Review: Features and Strengths
MeisterTask offers Kanban-style project boards that are fully customizable for a variety of workflows. The boards include unlimited sections that users can collapse or expand. Filtering by assignee, tag, status, and due date is possible, as well as viewing a project in a Gantt-like timeline view. Users can automate repeating steps to increase efficiency, set up a template for recurring tasks, and place work-in-progress (WIP) limits to drive focus and increase velocity.
Task management features include appointing responsible persons for tasks as Assignees and keeping others in the loop as Watchers. Tasks can have due dates, task relationships, multiple checklists, attachments, and tags to help organize by priority, category, client, and more. Users can also add custom fields to tasks to include more information. MeisterTask has a built-in tracker to keep track of time spent on each task, which is useful for team calculations and projections.
Agenda and Analysis
Agenda is a unique feature that gives individuals a personal, private board where they can pin important tasks from across all projects. Other tools for the individual are a customizable dashboard, and desktop apps including MeisterTask for Mac and Windows, as well as native mobile apps for iOS and Android. To help monitor activity, the software includes a variety of statistics and reports for progress, time, and safety that Meistertask can export in CSV format.
Administration, Communication, Integrations, and More
Administrators can easily organize the team with an admin account, creating user groups to foster collaboration via team projects. Built-in communication features are @mentions, task comments, and email notifications. MeisterTask’s integrations with popular online apps include Slack, Hangouts Chat, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365 Groups, Outlook, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Workspace, Dropbox, Box, Confluence, GitHub, IFTTT, and Harvest, among others.

MeisterTask Case Studies
Cory Scott is the founder of a real estate technology company that provides an online tool that matches house hunters to their ideal neighborhood in any US city. Their users were finding it difficult to utilize the tool’s search feature, so they decided to improve the UI. Their development team was using another task management tool that has low fidelity and functionality. When they shifted to MeisterTask, it became the cornerstone of the design and development process, where a backlog of tasks go through the many sections on the project board until changes are successfully implemented. The change created fantastic results; there is now one central place for all their product development tasks, while the Slack integration keeps everyone informed.
Cornelius Rihm, who works in the Process Organization department of a large German regional bank, was assisting Marijana Schaffer, project leader for Sales Controlling, in planning a workshop on agile project management. However, the workshop coincided exactly with the rollout of coronavirus restrictions in Germany. Fortunately, Rihm discovered MeisterTask, a GDPR-compliant, digital task management tool suitable for the security-sensitive banking sector. Its intuitive interface and mobile access features allowed employees to organize their activities through visual Kanban boards that also support Scrum workflows. The remotely held workshop was a huge success, and the rest of the team integrated MeisterTask into their processes.
