Formerly known as YouSendIt until it was rebranded in 2013, it is a way to send and access large files from any device. It also has an Outlook plug-in and a desktop app for easy file sending.

It protects data in transition with 128-bit SSL encryption and uses AES 256 encryption for stored data. The file owner has complete control of who can view, edit, or download the files, with history tracking and automatic expiration. With safety concerns out of the way, team members can simply focus on work. The desktop app makes it easy to share files with simple drag and drop.
• Access files with any device instantly. Users can send, share and access files using multiple platforms. Whether using a desktop, a tablet, a smart phone or even within Outlook, it is easy to access one’s important files. The software supports iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows Phone 8, Windows Tablet 8 and Samsung S-Pen systems. With the e-signature system, signing a document using the touch screen eliminates the need to print, sign, scan, and send back any important file.

Hightail offers a free Lite plan and several premium plans. The Lite plan allows a user to share up to 250 MB, store up to 2 GB of files online, and use 5 e-signatures. The premium Professional plan is priced at $15.99 per month and includes MS Outlook plug-in. The user also will be able to receive large files from anyone. The Teams plan is offered for users between 2 to 100. It includes all features from the Professional plan with additional custom branding and the ability to add/remove other users. The Enterprise plan has customized pricing options. All features from the Teams plan with additional MS Sharepoint integration and faster uploads/downloads are available from this plan.

Company Info

Hightail, Inc., is a privately held company based in Campbell, California. It was founded in 2004 and was formerly known as YouSendIt, Inc. The YouSendIt service was primarily for users unable to send large files using email. After a year, the company already had 300,000 users and growing. It was able to secure funding from several investors. In 2007, the service added features and plug-ins, and continued to receive investment funding for several rounds. In 2012, Brad Garlinghouse was appointed CEO while the remaining co-founder Ranjith Kumaran became a member of the board. In 2013, YouSendIt was rebranded. With a total investment funding of over $97 million received and with 40 million users, it plans to expand its secure file sharing and enterprise content collaboration system and base to other countries.
