What Customers Say
Wendy Nelson described it as a great CBAP study guide. With only a certain budget, she used this book together with the BABOK Guide to prepare for her CBAP exams, which she passed. The pre-test at the beginning of the book was very helpful in showing which knowledge areas she was weak, and the tests at the end of the chapter gave her an indication of how much information she was able to absorb.
Dale Carmichael passed the CCBA exams last year using this book as his only study guide. He stated that he did not join a study group or used flash cards but also took the practice exam found in the companion CD. He found the exam spotlights and scenarios to be very valuable.
Content, Approach, Style
CBAP/CCBA Certified Business Analysis Study Guide contains eight chapters and six appendices. The first chapter is about foundation concepts. The next six chapters cover the six business analysis knowledge areas such as planning and monitoring, enterprise analysis, requirements management and communication, and so on. The eight and last chapter is about underlying competencies and essential skills of a business analyst. It also has an assessment test at the beginning of the book and appendices that provides advice on completing the application, a review of the knowledge areas, mapping techniques, quick summaries and details about the companion CD. Also found helpful by many readers are the summaries, key terms and review questions at the end of every chapter.
The book follows a project life cycle in presenting its content, which are a controlled start, controlled middle and a controlled end. In each phase, the knowledge areas as defined in the BABOK Guide are presented and discussed, so it is recommended that the reader use this guide together with the BABOK Guide. The book is presented in an orderly manner, with easy-to-understand language. Key terms are defined. Chapters and sections are titled clearly and the text uses readable paragraphs, lists and highlighted sections such as the Exam Spotlight and the Real-World Scenario. The book contains adequate review questions, bonus exams and the answers to those.
Why Buy the Book
People who are preparing for the CBAP or CCBA certification exams will find the CBAP/CCBA Certified Business Analysis Study Guide an important resource that will make their goals more achievable.
