GoToMeeting : Features and Strengths

Before-Meeting Tools

GoToMeeting includes an integrated business chat platform where users can start or join a meeting directly from the chat with one click. Users can create custom meeting links to invite others into a personal meeting room. The software can call a phone number to notify users that a meeting is about to start. Participants can also dial into the meeting from their phone, toll-free. A webcam preview allows a user to test and preview their video before entering a meeting.

During-Meeting Tools

Users can easily share their screen on desktop, tablet, or smartphone for presentation and collaboration purposes. It has built-in drawing tools, such as a pen, highlighter, and spotlight laser pointer to guide viewers on where to focus. The Commuter Mode turns the entire phone screen into an audio/mute button to minimize distraction and bandwidth use. Other GoToMeeting features include custom backgrounds and transferable presenter control.

After-Meeting Tools and More

GoToMeeting automatically creates meeting transcripts that users can review and share. Users can also choose to record meetings and save them locally or in the cloud. Diagnostic reports are available so users can view stats and analyze meeting performance for troubleshooting. Aside from automatically transcribing meetings, a machine learning-powered Smart Assistant can mark meeting highlights, pinpoint action items, and organize presentation slides into a PDF file. The software integrates with many apps and services like Slack, Outlook, Chrome, HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Calendar, Microsoft Teams, and Zendesk. It is HIPAA-compliant, and also complies with security standards through content, video, and audio encryption, meeting locks, passcode-protected meetings, and participant removal features. Case Studies

John Schindell and Emily Miller were looking to move meetings and training with customers online during the COVID-19 pandemic. After an extensive evaluation, they chose GoToMeeting, which provided a reliable and intuitive interface and personal meeting rooms with custom PMCOMs. They were also able to expand their reach, increasing the number of clients served globally. Troy Lindner is the CTO of Fraser Public Schools in Fraser, MI. When the COVID-19 pandemic started to close schools, they needed to enable teachers to educate students virtually while school officials continued meeting, communicating, and planning. With previous experience in using GoToMeeting on a smaller scale, Fraser conducted virtual meetings to train teachers on how to use the software. Due to its ease of use, teachers quickly started using GoToMeeting to give virtual lessons and hold check-ins with students, as well as use it to attend staff meetings and communicate with parents.
