VIDEO: The 5 Leading monday.com Substitutes

Hey. Hey, you! I got a secret to tell you. Come closer. There are other project management software out there other than Monday.com. Oh, wait. You knew that already? Huh. Well, good for you. In that case, I might as well offer you some advice on which ones to try out. Hello, project managers! I'm Mackenzie, and today I'm listing five project management solutions that are great alternatives to Monday.com. Now, for those who know me, it might be weird hearing me offer alternatives even though I like Monday.com.

In fact, I use it every day for my job. But even if that's the case, that doesn't mean it's the perfect fit for everyone. Some teams might prefer software that has a different UX, offers more specific features or includes other tiered plans. Or maybe someone really just doesn't like the actual weekday of Monday and doesn't want to be reminded of it constantly. Honestly, that weekday can be pretty rough. Speaking of. That's right. You hear me?! I don't like you!

But regardless of the reason there is PM software out there other than just Monday.com. So here are my five recommendations to use instead. First off is Smartsheet. It is a leading work execution platform that has real time work management features and robust collaboration and automation tools. Users are presented with a familiar and easy to use interface that resembles an Excel spreadsheet from project management features that enable teams to utilize different views of real time data and switch easily from Gantt card grid and calendar views.

Smartsheet is extremely versatile and can be used for waterfall and agile projects, resource management, sprint planning and much more. And unlike Monday.com, Smartsheet offers collaboration through individual shared sheets and workspaces. Next up is Asana. The most important thing to note is that it's one of the Monday.com competitors that offer a free plan with access to different work views like list, board and calendar views, as well as some collaboration tools.

The work management software also enables project and task management across the organization in one interface. Development teams can track bugs and manage sprints as easily as the marketing team can plan and run campaigns and events. Plus, did I mention it's available as mobile apps for iOS and Android because it is. When compared to Monday.com, I think Asana has slightly better integrations and customizations. However, Monday.com still has a better interface and better pricing structure with five versus three to choose from.

In case you didn't already know, Adobe also offers a software called Workfront, and it's pretty solid. This online management program is ideal for large enterprise organizations and it's a cloud based solution which makes it great for global and remote teams needing to connect and collaborate on work efficiently from any location. For teams and organizations looking for end to end solutions, Workfront provides enterprise grade features. It may be more expensive than Monday.com as an alternative, but the software also provides partners and experts for strategic consulting and professional services.

Overall, Workfront is a powerful work management platform that aids in the tracking and management of digital work tasks. However, I found Monday.com to have an easier learning curve, so be sure to keep that in mind when checking it out. Airtable is another great Monday.com alternative. It's a customizable software that gives users the ability to build applications on top of an online database. It is easy to configure and use, provides users with pre-built tools like multiple work views and allows users to extend their applications with third party apps from its marketplace.

Along with that, Airtable allows teams to work together seamlessly through a centralized database for efficiency and speed. Airtable also provides free access to the web, desktop, mobile apps, automation runs and syncing of tables. Plus, the software works like an Excel spreadsheet, which is familiar to most users, while Monday.com offers limited integrations on that front. Do note though, that Airtable only provides email support with lower tiers, while Monday.com offers a round the clock support with each of their packages.

Finally, there’s Wrike. It is one of the most powerful work management platforms on the market today. It has a laundry list of customizable features, including gantt charts, forms, dashboards and time tracking and integration with hundreds of apps makes the work you already do so much better. Wrike is versatile for different teams across the organization, including marketing, creative and design, product management and business operations. It includes both free and paid tier plans.

Plus, enterprise plans have additional security features such as password policies, custom roles and audit reports suitable for hybrid workspaces. The biggest difference between Wrike and Monday.com though is that Wrike is a project and task management tool. While Monday.com is a work operating system, so be sure to test out both before committing to one. And that's all my recommendations for Monday.com alternatives. If I missed any of your PM software favorites, then be sure to tell me about it in the comments below.
