If you’re all caught up, then let’s get started! These will be presented in alphabetical order, picking back up where we left off last time. Number 6. Oracle Aconex. Oracle Aconex is a construction project controls software which focuses on project visibility, control, reducing risks, and connecting teams.
Oracle Aconex provides secure document management with strict version control, automated custom workflows, BIM model coordination, and reporting based on real-time analysis. Users praise the time tracking features and the inclusion of organization-wide cost management tools. However, users complain that there is no accounting system integration, nor equipment management tools. Number seven: Procore. Procore is a project management software with a focus on communication and collaboration for the duration of the project lifecycle, from pre-construction to project closeout.
Procore has a laundry list of features including UI customization, analytics, custom workflows, estimations, financial management and BIM. Users praise the robust support for multiple kinds of users and viewers and the accessibility from different mobile platforms. However the punch list feature needs improvement and the system lacks some of the more specific features necessary for specialty contractors. Number eight: Redteam. Redteam is built with the intention of being an all-in-one software for construction management.
Bidding, estimating, project management, change orders, RFIs, and scheduling - all of these features can be done from Redteam on a PC or from a mobile device. Contract creation is often praised because of a handful of pre-built templates. Users also like the timekeeping, accounting, and financial features included in Redteam. That said, frequent product enhancements can be confusing for users, and many users request more reporting and analytics functionality.
Number 9: Smartsheet. Smartsheet is a well known work collaboration software that is used for general project management, but also includes many features that are useful specifically for construction projects. Using the pre-built custom templates in the system, users can customize sheets for pre-construction, safety management, field operation, resource management, and reporting. Smartsheet is highly customizable, from individual sheets and templates to entire dashboards.
Also, collaboration is a major selling point of Smartsheet. However, it is designed for general project management, so it takes some work to make it fit your specific needs, and the learning curve for new users can be high. Stack is a construction management tool that focuses on the pre-construction stage to help users complete takeoff and estimation more efficiently. Users can customize and organize plans into folders with drag and drop functionality, markup and measure plans, and create automation workflows, all from a web-based and platform-agnostic system.
Multi-screen comparisons and layovers are a major pro of using STACK, and users praise the system’s ease of use. However, shortcut key commands would make it easier to navigate through the system, and pricing is a common complaint. That does it for our two video lists of the top ten construction project management software systems!
